I went to the Royal Pier Hotel this week monday 19th november 2018 along with so many elderly people. when i went to my bedroom it was so very cold and had to report the heating situation to reiception who sent a man to our room who repeatedly kept hitting the radiator untill it finally came on, but worked on a timer (so god help you if you wanted to rest up in your room in the day as the heating went off and it was freezing cold)... Breakfast and evening meals were sent out to us cold and was made to sit next to a drafty broken window, just to be told the window will be fixed in january because they are not allowed scafholding to be put up before January! its a sham and i wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone as the the dinning room is on the ground floor scafholding wasnt needed to fix the window.. The worst hotel i have been to ever. Also the drinks at the bar have been watered down and all the drafts drinks taste like dish water......

3 stars for the staff, food and service. Hotel is very tired with an unreliable lift which when it's working only carries 2 people. Some public areas are very tatty with ripped wallpaper. No bedrooms on ground floor, so anyone with mobility issues has to struggle with stairs if the lift is out of order

Friendly staff and overall decent experience. They had the place super heated which made it uncomfortable and the food portions were also quite small. Our room also had a view of the bins rather than the beach - see picture attached. If you are lucky to get a beach view it's very nice though. Some of the rooms could definitely do with some refurb; one of them had a bulging ceiling. The WiFi could also have its range improved as the mobile service in the area is quite poor (although not a fault of the hotel) so better WiFi would make it a better experience if you are sending messages as it's basically luck whether your room is in range of the router.Pool was not really heated, more like the room was. A bit small as well, but alright if there's only about 4 people in it.Bar was lively and had entertainment every night. Does shut a bit early I think though (23:30).As another review has mentioned, Tony was our waiter and he was very friendly and helpful. Definitely deserves a raise.Probably not the best hotel around, but not that bad and you get very friendly staff.

Had Tony as our waiter and he was very polite and speedy in bringing out our food. Food portions were ridiculously small, the kids meals were massive in comparison to meals on the main menu! Blonde lady with very short hair was very patronising and intrusive and sarcastic. Hotel had a nice pool and had everything you needed really. Good value for money. Also, was very, very hot throughout and stuffy.

Staff you can not fault for friendliness and being very helpful. How ever the hotel looks shabby and beds are horrablie all need replacing asap other wise I'm afraid the place could loose it's customers .breakfast is ok.
